If your problem sounds like this:
- I'm stuck on the loading screen.
- The game was working fine, but now it won't finish loading.
- I can hear the game audio, but the loading screen doesn't progress.
Resolution
If your game or Riot Client is still running but can't quite make it past the loading screen, work through the steps below to rule out connection, software, driver, or game file issues.
- Switch to a wired connection. Wireless connections can be affected by distance, interference, and other devices using the same network. If possible, connect your computer directly to your router or modem with an Ethernet cable and test again.
- Perform a clean boot. Clearing up background processes can ensure other programs aren't fighting for the spotlight against your game, and a clean boot helps you clear those potential troubles.
- Configure your firewall. Your firewall may be blocking the Riot Client from communicating with our servers. Follow our guide to configure your firewall.
- Update graphics card drivers. Outdated graphics drivers can cause crashes, freezes, black screens, and other visual issues, and updating your GPU drivers can help resolve these problems.
- Clean reinstall your graphics driver. If outdated or corrupted graphics drivers may be causing the issue, use DDU to remove old driver files before installing a fresh copy.
- Check your connection. A shaky connection can stop your game from finishing the trip to the next screen. Follow our high-latency guide for step-by-step instructions on tackling potential connection issues.
- Reinstall your game. A clean reinstallation can replace corrupted or missing files that may be preventing your game from loading correctly.
