Navigating some Vanguard errors requires a helping hand. If you were invited to follow this page through another support page or at the suggestion of a helpful Support Agent, then these steps were hand-made to help resolve your problem.
However, if you found your way here through a general search or by some other means, you'll be better served by searching this support site for the error or problem you are experiencing. Specific issues often have unique solutions, and while some or many of these steps may be repeated in other articles, following the page related to your exact situation will always give you the best shot at success.
Try these steps in order. We’ll start with the quickest fixes first, then move into the bigger ones if Vanguard still needs a little help getting back online. Launch your game after each step to see if it worked.
- Reset your configuration files. Some older, corrupt, or modified files may cause Vanguard to crash. Follow our steps to clean up your Config files.
- Remove and reinstall Vanguard. The quickest way to restore Vanguard's default settings is to manually uninstall it, then restart your PC and launch your game again to reinstall Vanguard.
- Perform a clean boot. Background apps or services may interfere with Riot Vanguard, and a clean boot helps you dial in on what exactly is giving you trouble.
- Check your connection. If you made it this far, it’s time to bust out the big guns. Follow our PC Connection Troubleshooting Guide for step-by-step instructions on tackling potential connection issues.
If you still experience any error after trying these steps, submit a ticket to Player Support. Make sure you attach your logs so we can take a closer look and help get you back in the game.
