This is League of Legends Classic.
What is League of Legends Classic?
League of Legends Classic is not a rework/update of League of Legends, but an alternative way to play the game and revisit past iterations of champions, items, and more. Launching with an initial roster of 60 iconic champions, League Classic takes place on an early version of the Summoner’s Rift map. It features ancient jungle camps (like Wraiths and the Elder Lizard), iconic items from the past, and the OG Rune and Mastery systems.
Whether you create your own custom game, team up against our bots, or face other players in PVP, it all takes place on an early version of the Summoner’s Rift map.
Every game you play earns Influence Points (a special currency you can use to unlock Classic content) and advances your progression by:
- Leveling-up your Classic level
- Completing Classic Missions to earn Classic Pass Coins, which you can spend in the Classic Pass for content rewards
Not only that, but after reaching Classic level 10, you can also progress through Summoner’s Journey with Seasonal Points (SP): winning games earns you SP, while losing matches decreases it. Earning enough SP moves you up to the next Emblem/Tier, from Salt to Wood, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Diamond and up to Legend, the very best of the best.

How can I play?
You can access League Classic directly through the League Client. Just click the Classic button right next to League and TFT.
Once you’re in the Classic tab, you can explore the Classic Store, check out your Classic Collection, configure your Runes and Masteries, access the League Classic Pass, or create a lobby to get back into the fray like things had never changed!
Classic Store
The Classic Store has returned with a bevy of vintage options. Although certain items are shareable between League Classic and standard League, some items can only be used in Classic matches.
Classic Skins are free to use! If you own the champion, you can use its Classic skin for any Classic games.
Additionally, many current skins can also be enjoyed in Classic games. Each skin in the store will say if it's enabled for Classic play. If your favorite isn't available yet, hold tight—more will be added over time.

The Council
The Council connects you directly to League Classic's future. Drop into the polls and let your voice be heard with Voting Power to steer the fate of the game!
Each Voting Power adds one additional vote for you on every poll, increasing your impact on the results. These are some ways you can further amplify your voice:
- As part of certain milestone rewards in the Classic Account level-up system
- Purchasing them in the Classic Pass
- Completing Classic Missions
Poll topics typically include:
- In-Game Changes: Introducing new or legacy items to the game.
- Cosmetic Items: Introducing new options like custom voice announcers.
- Gameplay Changes: Adding vintage modes to the game, such as Twisted Treeline.
- Community Features: Prompting specific champion cosplays for our Riot announcers.
If you change your mind after picking an option, you can still go back and change your vote for as long as the poll remains open. Once a poll closes, we'll review the community's choices and announce the winning feature in the patch notes of the following update. After that, the results can be implemented as soon as the very next patch, though more complex features may take a few patches
I had old Runes and Rune Pages back then. Am I getting them back?
Although League Classic brings back the former Rune system, these runes have been tweaked to adapt to the modern gaming experience, meaning they are considered brand-new (old?) items. Because of that, old Runes and Rune Pages won’t be restored since they were transitioned into the Reforged Rune system in 2018.
But fear not! There are multiple ways for you to earn Runes (way easier and faster than before too), and you instantly get three free Rune Pages upon reaching Classic level 3,. If you want to know more about how the system works, you can read all about Classic Runes and Masteries.
It’s been awhile since I last played League of Legends. Can you catch me up on what I need to know?
If you haven’t been here in a minute (or you’re new to the League experience), here's a quick rundown of what's changed over the last few years:
- Summoner Names were replaced by the Riot ID, a universal ID shared across all our games—not just League of Legends. Has your whole deal changed since the last time you played and your name doesn't reflect who you are anymore? No problem! You can change your Riot ID for free with just a few clicks.
- Your former League Account has evolved into a Riot Account. You access it with your username (the hidden name you use to log into your account; don't share it!) and password in the Riot Client, which you can download here. If you don't remember your username, check this article for help.
- The minimum and recommended device requirements have changed a bit over the years. While there are no changes compared to the current specs League requires, you might need to check our article in case you need a refresher of the latest requirements we have.
- We've added Vanguard, a new security system that prevents and punishes cheating within our games. This software is required to run our games, so don't sweat it if you see it in your system tray. Hit a Vanguard error? Check our client troubleshooting guides or submit a request to Player Support and we'll work together on a solution.
- Have you moved since the glory days? All good! You can transfer your account to a different server (now called Shards) in the League Client for 2,600 RP. For more information, check our Account Transfer FAQ.
- If you’re unable to access your account, you can check our Recovery website and follow the instructions to recover your account, or Submit a Request and we'll see what we can do.
