Think of Windows like a security guard checking badges at the door. Most of the time the Riot Client gets through just fine, but sometimes it needs a little extra clearance to install updates, launch games, or access important files. Running it as an administrator gives it the green light.
- Right click on the Riot Client shortcut
- Select Properties
- Go to Compatibility tab
- Check the box labelled Run as Administrator
Note: Running the game's .exe file (this is your game shortcut in your install folder) as administrator without also running the Riot Client as administrator may cause your game to not work properly.
Once you've updated the settings, launch the Riot Client again. It should now always run with administrator permissions.
