Below, you'll find the minimum system requirements for running League of Legends on Windows and macOS. If your setup meets only the minimum requirements, you may still see performance issues. Please note that we only natively support Intel macOS.

Additionally, we try to broadcast incoming min specs changes a few months in advance to give everybody time to prepare. Those dates are subject to change, so keep an eye on this page as they approach for the latest information.

Windows System Requirements

DirectX 11

As announced on Patch 25.02 (aka the patch formerly known as 25.S1.2), we're now updating our minimum spec requirements to require DirectX 11 feature level 11_0 for Windows users (and Metal for Mac users). Since 25.21, you'll need to have these graphics technologies in order to continue playing League. If you don’t, you’ll find that the “Play” button is greyed out, and you’ll receive a pop-up telling you that you’ll need to update your hardware in order to play League again.

  • If your device has Windows 10 but does not have Build 19041+, the game will display the VAN 9004 Error instructing you to update your OS to a supported version.

MinConfig Settings

How to use the MinConfig settings

  • This WILL replace your current in-game settings

What is the MinConfig Settings file? Following these steps will just take your game settings down to the bare minimum configuration. This is helpful when your current game settings are too high for your computer to currently load into a game.

  • Download the MinConfig.zip file, which you can find at the bottom of this page.
  • Unzip the file.
  • Log into your League of Legends account.
  • Go to your "Config" folder (default location: C:\Riot Games\League of Legends\Config)
  • Highlight, drag, and drop the following files into your "Config" folder: game.cfg and PersistedSettings.json
  • If a "Copy File" window pops up, click "Copy and Replace" for both conflicts. If not, skip to the next step.
  • Start a Custom Game by yourself. You should have the minimum configuration settings.

Note: If you're using an Intel Mac configuration, you may continue to play League, but support will be primarily focused on Apple Silicon. If we determine an issue is Intel-specific while troubleshooting, it may not be investigated or resolved.

Other Operating Systems

League of Legends is only supported for Windows and Mac OS. We won't be able to help you with other operating systems, like Linux, SteamOS, Bazzite OS, etc..
