If your problem sounds like this, you're in the right place:

Resolution

If you see VAN9002 when trying to log into our games, it usually means Windows Exploit Protection is disabled. Vanguard requires Exploit Protection to be turned on for the game to run. 

Follow the steps below to re-enable it and get back in the game.

Step 1: Check your System Settings

  1. Press the Windows Key 🪟 to open the Start Menu.
  2. Type exploit protection into the search bar and open it.
  3. In the System settings tab, you will see several security features. Make sure each of the following is set to Use default and do not restart yet:
    • Control flow guard (CFG)
    • Data Execution Prevention (DEP)
    • Force randomization for images (Mandatory ASLR)
    • Randomized memory allocation (Bottom up ASLR)
    • High entropy ASLR
    • Validate exception chains (SEHOP)
    • Validate heap integrity

Step 2: Check your Program Settings

  1. Go to the Program settings tab.
  2. Scroll through the list of applications and look for any entries related to:
    • Riot Games
    • Riot Vanguard
    • Any Riot titles
  3. Click the entry to expand it.
  4. Select Remove.
  5. Repeat this process for every Riot-related entry in the list.

Step 3: Restart your device

Restarting your computer gives Vanguard a fresh startup and should apply all your recent changes to your system. You should be good to go from here.
