It is the responsibility of all Agents to behave admirably, meaning if you break the rules you bring on the consequences. The fate of our world depends on you, and with that responsibility, we cannot take disruptive behavior lightly. If you would like a reminder of what it means to be an Agent, please re-familiarize how to be on your best behavior.

Remember how you accepted the Community Pact when first launching VALORANT? Well, there are certain words and phrases that, without question, are inexcusable in polite company (let alone on world-saving missions) that directly go against the pact. This includes:

  • Insulting, threatening, harassing, or offensive language.
  • Abusive language targeted at players based on their performance or otherwise.
  • Any kind of discrimination or hate speech. This includes targeting a player’s race, ethnicity, religion, ability, sexual orientation, or gender identity.

We have systems in place to detect such communications, whether they're typed or spoken. If we discover bad behavior, you will automatically receive a comms restriction—or worse.

These penalties are based on both the severity of the offense and the current standing of the penalized account, so they may not occur in order. That means a 1 day voice/chat restriction can potentially escalate to a multi-day game ban.

Also note that you will be denied XP/AP for the match that resulted in a penalty.

PenaltyDetailsDuration
Comms RestrictionUnable to use voice or text chat in VALORANT1/3/7/14/365 days
Teamplay RestrictionUnable to join any game type except for single player deathmatch and custom games1/3/7/14/365 days
VALORANT Game BanUnable to play VALORANT1/3/7/14/365 days
(may differ per region)

Game bans will only occur when you've already been given a chat restriction and continue to use offensive language.

If you do receive a restriction, we hope you’ll use that time to reconsider how to best communicate with your allies and enemies alike.

Audio File/Transcript Retention Policies

Our voice evaluation software is specifically designed to identify and preserve only interactions that violate our terms of service (Section 7). Because of that, the majority of conversations are automatically deleted after a short time depending on local regulations—or in the case of transcripts, not created at all.

Audio Transcripts

Audio transcripts are only generated when an interaction is reported or we detect a violation and issue a penalty. This is why if you request your account data, VALORANT conversations can be incomplete or absent.

If the conversation resulted in either a manual or automated report, the transcripts are preserved based on local regulations:

Audio Files

Audio files are slightly different and are always preserved for at least 24 hours, regardless of whether or not a report was issued. After that, retention sometimes extends if a report is made, and again if a penalty is issued:
