If your problem sounds like this:

  • VALORANT keeps crashing while I'm playing.
  • VALORANT closes suddenly without showing an error message.
  • My game crashed during a match and I received an AFK penalty.

Resolution

If VALORANT keeps crashing mid-game without leaving an error behind, work through the steps below to help track down what’s causing it.

  1. Check the minimum system requirements. Make sure your system meets the minimum requirements for the game you're trying to play.
  2. Update graphics card drivers. Outdated graphics drivers can cause crashes, freezes, black screens, and other visual issues, and updating your GPU drivers can help resolve these problems.
  3. Repair the game client. If something in the game files has gone sideways, the Riot Client Full Repair Tool can help straighten it out.
  4. Perform a clean boot. Clearing up background processes can ensure other programs aren't fighting for the spotlight against your game, and a clean boot helps you clear those potential troubles.
  5. Update other system drivers. Outdated audio, network, chipset, or other device drivers can sometimes contribute to crashes. Check your device or component manufacturer's official website and install any applicable driver updates.
  6. Reinstall the graphics driver. Old driver leftovers can sometimes keep causing problems even after an update, and Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) helps wipe the slate clean.
  7. Reinstall your game.  A clean reinstallation can replace corrupted or missing files that may be causing the issue.
