Two-factor authentication FAQ

You'll start to see "ADDITIONAL VERIFICATION REQUIRED" when logging in. When this happens, you'll be emailed a 5-digit code to enter along with your normal credentials. If you're on a device you trust, you can check "Add this to my trusted devices" and you won't be asked again whenever you're on that device. Learn more about that here.

Here are some questions you might have:

Why do you need to verify my login?

Because your account's security is important, and this is one big way we can help improve it. You can avoid this step upon login by setting up trusted devices. That said, anytime you change your email or make other account changes, you'll need to use a verification code.

If you haven't already, verify your email! A verified email keeps someone from making changes to your account if they somehow gain access to it. Read this article for more help keeping your account secure.

Can I opt out of all this extra security?

No. Even if you don't care about the security of your account, enabling two-factor authentication on your account makes everyone safer. Register your main device as a trusted device and two-factor won't bother you too much.

I didn't get the code in my email

Click "resend the email" in the pop-up, and check your spam folder if it still doesn't appear.

If you've done this a few times, there may be a problem on our end; check the service status page for live issues that may affect emails or account changes.

If you still don't see the email after all this, send us a ticket; someone may have changed your email address without your permission.

My email address in the pop-up is wrong

Where can I manage my trusted devices?

You can clear your trusted devices from your account settings. Learn more about trusted devices here.
