Bug: Alpha client appears visually corrupted when moved between monitors in a multi-monitor setup
OS: Windows and Mac
Alpha Client version: .01
Cause: Client is moved between screens while each monitor uses a different graphics adapter.
Fix: The easiest solution is to ensure both monitors are using the same type of graphics adapter, or avoid moving the client between monitors if possible.
Selecting a primary display
If the alpha client isn’t launching on the correct monitor, follow these steps to select a primary display:
Right-click your desktop and select Screen Resolution. Highlight the monitor you want as your main display and toggle the checkbox for ‘Make this my main display.' Click Apply and OK, then launch the alpha client as normal.
Open System Preferences from the Apple menu and click on the Display icon. Choose the Arrangement tab and click and hold the menu bar (white bar) at the top of the current primary display. Your monitors may flicker before adjusting to the new settings. Save these preferences by closing the System Preferences window.
Disabling the GPU
Another solution is disabling your GPU. Note that disabling your GPU is not recommended. While this will resolve graphical issues, it comes at the cost of not leveraging your GPU. Instead the game will run off of your CPU, which can have noticeable effect on the game’s performance.
Right-click the League Client Alpha shortcut and select Properties. In the Target dialogue box, add -disable-gpu to the end of the string. This is what it should look like if the alpha client is installed in the default location:
"C:\Riot Games\League of Legends\LeagueClient.exe" -disable-gpu
Click Apply and OK, then launch the alpha client as normal.
Launch the Terminal app and open the location of the alpha client by typing <open -a> <alpha client directory location> <-disable-gpu>. This is what it should look like if the alpha client is installed in the default location:
open -a "/Applications/League of Legends.app/Contents/LoL/LeagueClient.app" -disable-gpu
Hit enter and launch the alpha client as normal.
