Resolution
VAN 59 usually means Vanguard ran into an unexpected issue while starting or communicating with the Riot Client. Let's clear up those connections.
Try these steps in order. Launch your game after each step and hop into Practice Tool or a custom game when available to see if it worked. This lets you test safely without disrupting matchmade games or risking penalties if the error appears again.
- Restart the Riot Client. A fresh Riot Client session can clear temporary launch or connection hiccups before we move into reinstalling anything. Fully close Riot Client, then open it again and try launching your game.
- Remove and reinstall Vanguard. The quickest way to restore Vanguard's default settings is to manually uninstall it, then restart your PC and launch your game again to reinstall Vanguard.
- Reinstall your game. This can replace corrupted or missing game files that may be preventing Vanguard or your game from launching correctly. Follow our guide to uninstall and reinstall your game.
