Sometimes old or corrupted graphics driver files can hang around even after a normal update. Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) gives your GPU drivers a proper clean slate before installing a fresh copy.

Only use DDU when a troubleshooting guide specifically recommends a clean graphics driver reinstall. You don't need to run it for every routine driver update.

Before You Start

  1. Download the latest graphics driver for your GPU from NVIDIA, AMD, or Intel, but don't install it yet.
  2. Download Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) from the official Wagnardsoft website.
  3. Extract DDU to a folder on a local drive, such as your Desktop. Don't run DDU from OneDrive or a network drive.
  4. If your device uses BitLocker, make sure you have your recovery key available before continuing.
  5. Save any open work.
  6. Disconnect your PC from the internet by disconnecting Wi-Fi or unplugging your Ethernet cable.

Remove Your Graphics Driver

  1. Restart Windows in Safe Mode. If needed, follow Microsoft's Windows Startup Settings instructions and select Enable Safe Mode.
  2. Open the folder where you extracted DDU, then launch Display Driver Uninstaller.
  3. Under Select device type, choose GPU.
  4. Select your graphics manufacturer:
    • NVIDIA
    • AMD
    • Intel
  5. Select Clean and restart.
  6. Wait for DDU to finish removing the graphics driver and restart your PC.

Your screen may briefly flicker or turn black while DDU removes the driver. This is expected.

Install Your Graphics Driver

  1. Once Windows starts normally, keep your PC disconnected from the internet.
  2. Install the graphics driver you downloaded earlier.
  3. Restart your PC once the installation is complete.
  4. Reconnect to the internet.
  5. Launch the game and test again.
