Apps store temporary files to help things load faster, but those files can sometimes become outdated or cause unexpected behavior. Clearing the app's cache gives it a chance to rebuild those temporary files from scratch.
- Open your device's Settings.
- Tap Apps.
- Select the game or app you're troubleshooting. If you don't see it right away, tap See all apps or the equivalent option on your device.
- Tap Storage & cache.
- Tap Clear cache.
- Open the game again and test whether the issue continues.
Note: Android menus can vary depending on your device manufacturer and Android version. If the options above look different on your device, check your manufacturer's official support documentation.
iPhone and iPad don't have a universal Clear cache button for individual apps. Instead, you can offload the app. This removes the app itself and frees the storage it uses while keeping its documents and data on your device.
- Open Settings.
- Tap General.
- Tap iPhone Storage or iPad Storage.
- Select the game or app you're troubleshooting.
- Tap Offload App.
- Tap Offload App again to confirm.
- Once it's finished, tap Reinstall App.
- Open the game again and test whether the issue continues.
Still having trouble? Because offloading keeps the app's documents and data, some issues may remain. If troubleshooting calls for a full reinstall, delete and reinstall the app instead.
